What A Semester!

First of all I had fun during this semester we had new classmate, new friends and new professors.

But having a Sir Arvin Villodres as a professor in Information Management is an honor for didn’t only teach us lessons in school he also teach us lessons that he had experience which give us an view on what would be the real world look like if we had are own jobs and finish college.

Thank you Sir for being our professor in IM we had learned so many things from you. Although we didn’t had our last class and didn’t had a chance to say goodbye we understand that you are very busy as our Dean and as the head of MIS still you manage to teach us. We know that we still would be seeing each other and also know that you might be our professor again.

We thank you all for the things that you told and teach us. I don’t have anymore to say but Thank you sir have a wonderful vacation sir ūüôā

Data Warehousing

The lesson in Information Management that is confusing to understand. We had a hard time in learning the concept of Data Warehousing but after the discussion on it we had understand it but not totally all of it.

Enterprise Data Warehouse is a system used for reporting and data analysis Data Warehouse are central repositories of integrated data from one or more disparate sources. They store current and historical data and are used for creating analytical reports for knowledge workers throughout the enterprise. Examples of reports could range from annual and quarterly comparisons and trends to detailed daily sales analysis. The data stored in the warehouse is uploaded from the operational systems (such as marketing, sales, etc., shown in the figure to the right). The data may pass through an operational data store for additional operations before it is used in the Data Warehouse for reporting.

Unstructured Data are data that is needed to be put into a proper place. So you can find data easily unlike before they are hard to find due they are not compiled properly.

Analytic s is defined as the scientific process of transforming data into insight for making better decisions. Analytic s help one organization to decide what should be the next step and the decision should be taken. There are three types of analytic s namely descriptive analytic s, predictive analytic s and prescriptive analytic s.

Descriptive analytic s talks all about what is being summarized by this data and describe and try to create a picture with the data.

Predictive analytic s talks about how the data is being use by forecast by the word itself prediction wherein you’re predicting something within the data.

Prescriptive analytic s combine the idea of predictive and descriptive analytic s in order to optimize, maximize and create decision.

(Journal #7) 7th Day of Class

The 7th day of our class is the continuation of our last topic. The continuation of our discussion is the Data Modeling which we didn’t finish discussing due to the lack of time.We continued with the Conceptual and Logical Data Modeling, Mapping the Conceptual to Logical Data Model and their 9 types of mapping.

  1. Regular Entities
  2. Composite Attributes
  3.  Multi valued Attributes
  4.  Weak Entities
  5. Associative Entities
  6. Binary Relationships
  7. Unary Relationships
  8. Ternary Relationships
  9. Generalization Relationships

This are the guides in mapping from conceptual to logical data modeling. As the discussion goes Prof. Arvin give examples of mapping this are the 3 Mapping Binary Relationships: One-to-Many is the Primary Key on one side becomes a Foreign Key on the many side. Many-to-Many create an Associative Entity with the Primary Key of each table becoming the Composite Key of the Associative Entity. One-to-One is the Primary Key of one side become the foreign key on the other side. The most common relationship is the One-to-Many relationship is reduce redundancy and more systematic and order. Which he explained each kind for us to further how it is being done and why it is important to be done. Lastly he discussed the Normalization wherein it is composed of 5NF (5 Normal Form). This part is the decides which attributes should be grouped together in a relation and it reduces redundancy that waste storage and capacity.

The main concept of this normalization is not just to reduce redundancy it also deals with the data to be in the organize relation with other entity. This will also help the one doing the normalization manipulate the form that is being normalize.

(Journal #6) 6th Day of Class

During are 6th meeting day in our class Prof. Arvin discussed the Database Modeling Concepts and Technologies that is all about how Database Management System works. A database management system (DBMS) is system software for creating and managing databases. The DBMS provides users and programmers with a systematic way to create, retrieve, update and manage data. As what Prof. Arvin told us DBMS is not just a single and simple concept,it is a collaboration of application to application, sequel to sequel and application to other DBMS.

Their is a Hierarchy of Data Organization, which starts from the smallest part which is the BIT refers to the binary digit to BYTE refers to the Character,it is a group of bits defined by an encoding system to FIELD which is referring to word or data element to RECORD which is the group of related fields to FILE which is the collection of related records until it came to the biggest part which is the DATABASE which is the collection of related FILES.

500px-Data_Hierarchy_diagram_showing_Employee_database_example_by_JeffTan

Also we tackled the Data Model. Data Model is an organizes data elements and standardizes how the data elements relate to one another. Data models are often used as an aid to communication between the business people defining the requirements for a computer system and the technical people defining the design in response to those requirements. They are used to show the data needed and created by business processes. While Data Modeling  is the process of creating a data model for an information system by applying formal data modeling techniques.

As the discussion goes Prof. Arvin ask as who is the model of penshoppe one of my classmate answered and after my classmate answered he said that a model of a certain organization is one of the key to a success of a certain organization because that model represents that certain organization and an organization only picks whats best for them.

INTRODUCTION

 Project Overview

Brandjacking¬†is an activity whereby someone acquires or otherwise assumes the online identity of another entity for the purposes of acquiring that person’s or business’s¬†brand equity.

The famous label Louis Vuitton gets brandjacked by an artist to simply make a strong words out of a campaign. Louis Vuitton is the world’s most valuable luxury brand founded on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris, France in 1854 by Louis Vuitton. Products made by Louis Vuitton includes leather goods, handbags, trunks, shoes, watches, jewelry and accessories

In year 2007, Louis Vuitton gets brandjacked by Nadia Plesner,¬†a Danish artist who has been sued by¬†Louis Vuitton Mallatier¬†for brand jacking the flagship Murakami handbag on her t-shirt(depicting a malnourished child holding a designer dog and a designer bag, and used it on T-shirts and posters to raise funds for the charity “Divest for Darfur”). The lawsuit has brought Nadia much publicity and much traffic to her¬†website¬†and Facebook page, which in a little over a week has amassed 2,260 fans. Nadia argues that Louis Vuitton is trying to destroy her life. She claims that she never used the (Murakami) bag, but her image was “inspired by the bag”. Nadia never wanted to humiliate the image of LV but instead use it to make a point that the media cares more for Paris Hilton extravaganza‚Äôs more than the genocide in the nation of Darfur.

Still, the court has been in favor of LV and ruled that the image was a clear infringement of copyright. Despite of the ruling, Plesner continued to use the image for arguing on artistic freedom, and posted the copies of the infringement letter on her website. So the company Louis Vuitton, demanded $7,500 (5,000 Euro) for each day Plesner continues to sell the “Simple Living” products, $7,500 for each day the original infringement letter is published¬†on her website and $7,500 a day for using the name “Louis Vuitton” on her website, plus legal and enforcement costs.

In October 2008, Louis Vuitton declared that the company had dropped its lawsuit but have since reopened it along with a new ‚ā¨205,000 claim due to a painting(Dafurnica) by the same artist.

This time Plesner chose to countersue and the case led her to the Hague, where in June 2011, after a long and costly legal battle, The European Court of Justice, rejected Vuitton‚Äôs arguments, annulled the accumulated fine of 485000‚ā¨ and ordered the brand to pay 15000‚ā¨ for Nadia‚Äôs legal costs.

Current State of the Organization

As of now, Louis Vuitton is the world’s most valuable luxury brand and is a division of LVMH. Its products include leather goods, handbags, trunks, shoes, watches, jewelry and accessories. Most of these are adorned with the LV monogram. It is one of the most profitable brands in the world with profit margins approaching 40%.

Scope

The project tackles on why Nadia Plesner brandjack the label Louis Vuitton and how Louis Vuitton sue and demands about the issue to gain attention on her campaign about genocide.

Purpose and objectives

  • To open the eyes of the society on how strong the media can manipulate and influence.
  • To know what are the possible thing happen when someone do a brandjack.
  • To know the rights and consequences of the victim of brandjack.

Benefits to stakeholders

Because of the publicity that the organization has encounter the product of the company has caught attention of many people. The more people talk about the case (web brandjacking), the company is gaining more demands on their product which the company gains more income, this benefits all stakeholders.

Project team structure

Members work together in one place to help each other on achieving certain goals. Each members had different parts to work with and have divided the members to work accordingly on different parts. Dividing members have result to sharing of knowledge and skills transfer.

Benchmark

Exxon Mobil Corp.¬†is an American¬†multinational¬†oil and gas¬†corporation headquartered in¬†Irving,¬†Texas. It is the largest direct descendant of¬†John D. Rockefeller‘s¬†Standard Oil Company, and was formed on November 30, 1999 by the merger of¬†Exxon¬†(originally the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey) and¬†Mobil¬†(originally the Standard Oil Company of New York). The¬†world’s 5th largest company by revenue, ExxonMobil is also the¬†third largest publicly traded company by market capitalization.¬†The company was ranked No. 6 globally in¬†Forbes Global 2000¬†list in 2014.¬†ExxonMobil was the second most profitable company in the¬†Fortune 500¬†in 2014.¬† ExxonMobil is the largest of the world’s¬†supermajors¬†with daily production of 3.921¬†million BOE. In 2008, this was approximately 3 percent of world production, which is less than several of the largest state-owned petroleum companies.¬†When ranked by oil and gas reserves, it is 14th in the world‚ÄĒwith less than 1 percent of the total.¬†ExxonMobil’s reserves were 25.2¬†billion BOE (barrels of oil equivalent) at the end of 2013 and the 2007 rates of production were expected to last more than 14 years.¬†With 37oil refineries¬†in 21 countries constituting a combined daily refining capacity of 6.3 million barrels (1,000,000¬†m3), ExxonMobil is the largest refiner in the world,¬†a title that was also associated with Standard Oil since its incorporation in 1870.

Best practice/s

  • Settings rules and regulation

From time to time, workers may violate the policies you have established for your business. Even if an employee breaks the rules with the best of intentions, the flow of the workplace can be impacted negatively. When your entire team is working toward the same goal and following the same regulations, it can be easier for you to fulfill the goals you have for your company. When you truly understand why your rules are in place, it can be easier to communicate that urgency to your team.

  • Knowing your employees

Management should know its employees well. Here are some factors that would help management to prevent betrayal of employees.

  • Self-protect

There are simple things you can do to begin to protect yourself from threats within your business. It’s not about distrusting your staff; instead just make sure you really know them.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Pre-employment checks

One of the simplest things you can do to reduce the chances of internal fraud is to make sure you know who you are employing in the first place. Always ask for at least two independent references when taking on new staff and verify their personal information and background wherever possible. Be thorough and keep chasing these references ‚Äď however long it takes is time well spent. More detailed information on what you can do when employing staff is provided by the¬†Fraud Advisory Panel.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Anti-fraud policy statements

Setting the tone from the top is crucial in deterring employee fraud, and adopting an anti-fraud policy statement is one way of communicating a strong fraud prevention message to your staff. Such a statement provides clear guidelines for preventing, detecting and dealing with fraud, and can help to establish a zero tolerance culture to emphasize that fraud is completely unacceptable. The Fraud Advisory Panel has produced useful guidance on what this should include, in addition to a template policy that you can adapt and adopt for your business.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Staff behavior

Its good management practice to monitor your employees’ performance and understand what makes them tick, but this routine procedure can also unearth internal threats to your business. Fraudsters’ behaviors can often betray their crimes, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for members of staff who are acting out of character. This can include things like a sudden change of lifestyle or unexplained wealth, reluctance to take a holiday or promotion, or being scornful of systems and controls.  More often than not there are simple explanations for these behaviors, but it is sensible managerial practice to be alert to the possibility that those acting out of character could be up to no good. Remember, even long-serving employees could be tempted to commit fraud under certain circumstances, so it is equally as important to watch out for any strange behavior in those you think you know well.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Processes and controls

To understand where you may be targeted by an internal fraudster, it’s important to first know where your valuable assets are. Once you’ve identified them, you’ll need to think about how to reduce the chances of those assets being defrauded or stolen by rogue employees, and then build controls into your routine business processes. Ways of doing this will vary depending on the business and asset, but will include things like managerial oversight of finance processes, ensuring that one person cannot transfer high value assets by themselves or without sign-off; regular checks and audits of your assets, and restricting access to key assets to only those who need to use them.

  • Monitoring your brand in social network

Social media platforms offer the potential to increase your public profile. You have the ability to create grassroots campaigns, engage with influencers in your industry, share content from them and stay active in conversations. If you create and share worthwhile content, you’ll be ready for the time when industry influencers send a flood of new followers your way and other doors for opportunities might open. But this opportunities might be open also to other competitors still if monitoring is implemented a certain organization/company could monitor what is happening and what might their consumer want/need so that us an organization/company we could provide it.

  • Right Response in a certain problem

There are things to be considered before responding in a certain problem. Knowing what to do and what may be the consequences that you will be having for a certain action. Because responding immediately would get you or someone in trouble so think we should think what would be the right response in a certain problem for an organization/company to do.

Companies implementing the best practices

  • JC Penney
  • Johnson and Johnson
  • Starbucks

How implemented

All of the companies that a had the same case implemented cease and desist wherein is a document sent to an individual or business to halt purportedly unlawful activity (“cease”) and not take it up again later (“desist”). The letter may warn that if the recipient by deadlines set in the letter does not cease and desist specified conduct, or take certain actions, that party may be sued.

Implementation challenges and results

The companies have cost them money as they try to resolve their problems even though not knowing what will be the outcome for their company(if they will win or not). In this case, the Louis Vuitton had brought the case to the court and according to Wikipedia (and other articles) Louis Vuitton had lost their case against the brand jacking of their label to Nadia Plesner while the Exxon Mobil had not found out the true identity of Janet(the one who made the fraud account) but it had opened Exxon Mobil to social media.

Benefits

The benefits of the company that implemented the best practice/s to resolve the case that they encountered is that they can now know the process that they should apply in handling a certain case such as the case that they recently encountered and also this could also serve as a move of prevention for them so that the case that they encountered will never happen again.

Project Methodology

  • Planning- The distribution of works to be done by each member.
  • Researching- Each member search for the assigned topic in the internet. Studying the background of the organization.
  • Analyzing- Looking for the problem the organization had encountered (how and why the issue started) what the organization did to resolve the problem, and what had been the outcome.
  • Plotting- Compiling all the information that had been gathered by each member.

Implementation Strategy

Louis Vuitton sent a Cease and desist order to Danish art student Nadia Plesner but then Nadia still pursue on implementing her campaign with a different piece (the oil painting Dafurnica) that led to a new lawsuit. So, Louis Vuitton demanded that Plesner pay 5000‚ā¨ for each day that the painting¬†was exhibited in public or online, claiming that the art work represented a ‚Äúthreatening infringement of intellectual property.‚ÄĚ

Success measures

The project have a high rate of success because many people had cooperated and opinions are not set aside. People from the internet had shared their own opinions about the issue which makes the project more reliable.

Lesson Learned

  • Being aware that while we are enjoying our riches there are someone who enjoys our trashes.
  • Even the intension is good, know first if there will be someone that can be affected.
  • Being an artist you must know the copyright rights, because as an artist in your design you have a right to be credited or ask a permission if someone want to use your piece, because as an artist it is a disrespect if you just only grab a piece without asking a permission or

Bibliography

Appendices

Regarding the issue of brandjacking of the label Louis Vuitton, surveys have been brought to many citizens on what can they say about the issue in their own opinion. Some says it could have been Rolex, Lexus, Gucci, sadly for LV, it was theirs.

According to Jeremiah  Owyang LV has nothing to do with Darfur, and LV is being dragged through the African mud. LV’s response is pretty standard and expected, to protect the image and brand that they’ve been working to build. He is sympathetic to LV getting brand jacked because LV had nothing to do with anything that occurs within the Darfur community.

Louis Vuitton though has many other options like 1: They could have join the campaign, drop the lawsuit, and work with Save Darfur organization to help raise funds by doing events, creating a specific product, or help promote the cause. But this would be a nod to activitists everywhere to brand jack major brands in order to get support ‚Äďand funding, the cycle will continue.- John Bell 2: ¬†Drop the suit. Walk away and wait for the dust to settle. This will have no long term negative impact on their brand ‚Äď Alyson Byrne.

Twitter users voice their own opinion regarding the issue and here’s what was said in public:

ronbailey: ‚Äď why not just donate a few bucks to the cause in exchange for her NOT using LV products in her campaign?

Dan Lewis: legalities aside, I’d be mighty upset if my name were wrongly associated with genocide. the artist is morally wrong here, no doubt

Alberto Nardelli: besides LV point being morally disturbing, IP case doesn’t stand: would be like campbells suing warhol

Kim Pearson: I’m a former PR person, not a lawyer, but I’d argue that LV is doing itself more harm by its response, not protecting its brand.

Ed Saipetch: ironically in the same vain, I heard the (RED) campaign benefits retailers and product producers much much more than the AIDS fight

Rainne: I say not, b/c the artist did not use the vuitton pattern, she simply invoked its similarity.

mlogan: They turned this into a big story and managed to put themselves on the wrong side of a humanitarian crisis. Smooth

bethdunn: it’s another case of a company doing more harm than good to their brand by trying to halt something they can’t control

ronbailey: how has LV been harmed by Nadia‚Äôs campaign? ‚Äď She was poking fun at celebrity culture in general, not LV in particular

ronbailey: They could have easily turned a blind eye to the whole episode.

Value Chain

In the Value Chain that I did with my other group mate. What I contributed in doing our value chain is the primary activities. Wherein the content of this part is inbound logistics. In the inbound logistics there is the purchasing of raw materials, the operations in creating a certain product and the things needed to make that certain product.

Inbound logistics is the¬†activities¬†of receiving, storing, and disseminating incoming goods¬†or material¬†for use.¬†Inbound logistics is an integral element of business operations for a manufacturing firm, involving the processes of receiving, storing and distributing raw materials for use in production. It is the first stage in value chain, which business management expert Michael Porter outlined in his 1985 book “Competitive Advantage.” Small business manufacturers may not manage as much inventory, but should still optimize inbound logistics processes.

(Journal #5) 5th Day of Class

During are discussion Prof.Prof. Arvin discussed the Aligning IT with Business Strategy wherein there is a process and it is the Alignment process which have 9 parts:

  1. Understand the business
  2. Acknowledge the culture
  3. Know the IT estate
  4. Discover the value chain
  5. Interpret the context
  6. Determine the change
  7. Chart the technology road map
  8. Plan the work Programme
  9. Populate the delivery framework

Only the first four process were tackled due to lack of time.

Business-IT-alignment

Understand the Business. Either your the boss or an employee you should know the all the components,o process and the other part of your business. Information should be documented formally and informally. This serves as your book of reference to know the business that you are in and it will make you a better boss or a better employee.

Acknowledge the culture. Knowing the culture of your organization will help avoid doing mistakes not only that you will also be able to understand the internal and external part of your business, knowing what are the key of success of that organization or the organization that you are in successful. There is Organization Cultures for IT Culture: Simple Structure, it is the the two-way exchange of information or data between the staff and the top level management. Management by exception, the lower position must try first to solve the problem until it reach the higher position if needed. If the lower position can solve it don’t escalate it to higher position anymore. Professional bureaucracy, standards and operational procedures are determined by external professional bodies. Project team, organic teams, matrix management, formal and informal liaison between teams and members, it was all about the teams of different management.

Know the IT estate. Knowing what are the assets/IT assets that you have in your organization. Too sum it up this part tells you what are the components that build your IT Department of your Organization.

Discover the Value chain. Identify and document the relationships/touch-points between business and the IT estate. Primary Activities: Inbound logistics (Supplier), Operations (Production), Outbound logistics (Deliver), Marketing and Sales (In charge on getting a customer and putting up sales), After sale service (Feedback). Support Activities: Firm infrastructure, Human Resource Management (Human Capital), Technology Development, Procurement (Purchase).

Aligning IT with Business strategy can help an organization be successful in what ever they are doing. This will serve as there organizations foundation in having or obtaining success now and even in the future of there people and there organization.

(Journal #4) 4th Day of Class

November 23 2015, our fourth day of class in Information Management. During the lecture we tackled¬†the Information Technology Infrastructure Library(ITIL), a service management framework, a Certification for an individual for service management. Before our prof. proceeded on our topic he reminded us our past assignments that we did the social networking media tools and also the world is flat. He ask as if we realize that the assignment the he have given us and the past lecture that we discuss are all related and also if we know how to use some of the tools. He said “you know the¬†tools but you don‚Äôt know the use of it”.

itil_v3211.jpg

As we continued the lecture he explained as what is ITIL? It is all about best practices. That those who are ITIL Certified, assures the service management and make sure the whole management become addressed.  The ITIL was divided into three. The 1st is the Service Design under the Service Design are Supplier Management, that has something to do with procurement. Service Level Management, where the monitoring and management of the quality of service happens; Service Catalogue Management, contains accurate information on all operational service and those being prepared to be run operationally and the Availability Management responsible for ensuring that all IT infrastructure, processes, tools, roles etc are appropriate for the agreed availability targets, also called After-Sales, where Risk Reduction & Resourcing Management happens.

The 2nd is the¬†Service Transition, everything in here must be based on information’s that where given by knowledge workers. It is composed of 5 major component.Release & Deployment Management that¬†aims to plan, schedule and control the movement of releases¬†to test, that when the feedback was given to or by a customer then there‚Äôs the release and deployment takes place.¬†The Change Management that¬†approaches to transitioning individuals, teams, and organizations to a desired future state. In this part adaptation is necessary. The Knowledge Management wherein¬†the process of capturing, developing, sharing, and effectively using organizational knowledge. The compilation of all the ideas in an organization. The¬†Service Validation and Testing¬†wherein it ensures that deployed Releases and the resulting services meet the customers satisfaction. The Configuration Management System refers to a discipline for evaluating, coordinating, approving or disapproving, and implementing changes in artifacts that are used to construct and maintain software system.

The last one is the Service Operation compose of 3 major components,  the Incident Management, where the proper way of handling problems is done, and the kind of information that will give to customers; Event Management, where the recording of event is done; and Problem Management, wherein they think of the solutions to be address problems and the use of Standard Solutions.

The ITIL have given us an idea of how an individual with this practices works. This are the best practices of an individual that is productive and competitive that can be successful in the industry.

Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds.

Assignment # 2

State the Human Capital and Customer Capital of at least two IT Organization.

  1. What are the similarities and difference?

Human Capital:

“People are the foundation of business. Develop people before making products.” Throughout its history, Panasonic has consistently placed priority on human resource development based on this philosophy. The core element of our human resources policy is building win-win relationships between the company and employees through a variety of initiatives, stemming from the principles of participative management, evaluations based on performance, and respect for employees. In essence, this approach means that we are simultaneously pursuing two objectives: sustaining growth in business performance and allowing employees to achieve self-fulfillment through their work. This is how we go about making Panasonic worker-friendly, resulting in a more fulfilling work environment.

Human resource development

As indicated by the phrase “The success of business depends on employee,” growth and development of business cannot be realized without the development of people. Human resource development should be carried out through daily management and it is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of managers. Managers should keep in mind that in order to bring innovation to others, the manager must take the initiative to bring innovation to oneself. It is important to carry out human resource development appropriately to enhance the quality of staff members and to stimulate their personal growth.

While SONY is aimed to creating a rewarding corporate climate that supports the efforts of a diverse range of employees while the vision of SONY is that every Sony employee is united through a common set of beliefs, ideals and aspirations. They focus on creating diversity and inclusion working environment, securing and fostering talented employees, social contribution activities with employees, creating positive working opportunities and organizing occupational health and safety system which is a big success in the development of human capital in 2014. Sony acknowledges the importance of securing and fostering talented employees with a wide range of values and personalities, irrespective of nationality, culture, race, gender, age. Guided by their culture of diversity and inclusiveness, Sony recruits individuals from various backgrounds and creates positive working environments and opportunities that enable the employees to fulfill their potential.

Customer Capital:

Panasonic has established a set of Basic Rules for Response to Customers (compliant with ISO 10002 and JIS Q 10002) for responding appropriately  to inquiries and complaints from customers. The Head Office CS Center oversees the implementation of these regulations, which apply to all work relating to customer relations in Japan by Panasonic or by affiliates that handle products bearing the Panasonic brand. In those business sites in Japan, the company has implemented a Customer Management System as a mechanism for utilizing information in management that is received from customers. These sites conduct periodic self-audits and make other efforts to improve the quality of customer relations.
Overseas, the company has implemented ISO-compliant management systems based on the Basic Rules for Response to Customers and tailored to the legal system in each country or region.

Since its foundation, Panasonic’s management philosophy has been to contribute to society through its products and services while always putting the customer first. Based on this philosophy, the company strives to improve customer satisfaction and offers products, solutions, and services that enrich the lives of people around the world.
When providing customer service, Panasonic strives for sincerity, accuracy, and speed, and acts with humility and appreciation. This finds its basis in the principle of “true service” that the company’s founder handed down through his words. The company’s fundamental stance is thus to provide customers trust, peace of mind, and satisfaction.

While in addition to continuously improving product quality, Sony is taking various steps to improve its responsiveness and its customer service capabilities, in line with its commitment – set forth in the Sony Pledge of Quality – “Sony employees will always respect our customers’ viewpoints in striving to deliver product quality and customer service that exceed their expectations.” In customer service, this includes responding to changing customer needs, and in repair services, building a structure for providing the best possible repair service quality.

2. How does each company gain advantage from every capital that they have?

Competitive Advantage of Sony Sony‚Äôs incredible rise in the field of electronics is due to their innovation and high technology products. Sony prides itself on its history of ‚Äúimagination and innovation‚ÄĚ in the industry. After World War II, Sony was the company that took transistor technology and made the ever popular transistor radio. Under Akio Morita Sony kept looking for advances in technology and ways in which they could innovatively improve lives of the people who use them. With a passion for creating new markets, Sony was an early creator and leader in the sector we now call ‚Äúconsumer electronics‚ÄĚ. Some examples are:

‚ÄĘ Sony improved solid state transistor radios until they surpassed the quality of tubes, making good quality sound available very reliably, and inexpensively

‚ÄĘ Sony developed the solid state television, replacing tubes to make TVs more reliable, better working and use less energy. Also, Sony developed the Triniton television tube, which improved the quality of color and enticed an entire generation to switch.

‚ÄĘ Sony was an early developer of videotape technology, pioneering the market with Betamax.

‚ÄĘ Sony pioneered the development of independent mobile entertainment by creating the ‚ÄúSony Walkman‚ÄĚ, which allowed consumers to take their own recorded music with them, via cassette tapes

Customer and Human Capital plays a major role in a organization. In my own opinion Human Capital is the foundation of an organization wherein Human Capital is the stock of knowledge, habits, social and personality attributes, including creativity, embodied in the ability to perform labor so as to produce economic value.  While Customer Capital is the relationship between an organization and the people that are believing in that organization (customer). Value of relationships that a firm builds with its customers, and which is reflected in their loyalty to the firm and/or its products. The Customer and Human Capital will surely help an organization from growing and becoming successful in the industry.
